Home of the Lost and Found Gravel Festival

The Lost Sierra gained national recognition through the Lost and Found Gravel Festival, one of the original gravel events in the country. The routes that put this region on the map run right past High Camp. Whether you're here for the festival or riding on your own schedule, you'll understand why gravel riders keep coming back.

We also host a Gravel Social during the season, a casual group ride and gathering for guests and locals. Check our events page for dates.

Featured Routes

These are some of our favorite rides from camp. We're happy to help you plan routes based on your ability and how much time you have.

Beckwourth Peak Loop

Intermediate ~25 miles ~2,500 ft gain

A classic loop departing right from High Camp. Mixed gravel roads and forest service roads through ponderosa pine and open meadows. This is the ride that makes you fall in love with Lost Sierra gravel.

Sierra Valley Explorer

Beginner to Intermediate ~30 miles ~1,200 ft gain

Roll through the wide-open Sierra Valley on smooth gravel ranch roads. Flat enough for newer gravel riders, scenic enough for anyone. Great views of the surrounding peaks.

Plumas National Forest Epic

Advanced ~50+ miles ~4,000+ ft gain

A full-day adventure deep into Plumas National Forest on remote forest service roads. Long climbs, fast descents, and the kind of solitude you came to the Lost Sierra to find.

What to Know Before You Ride

  • Season: Gravel roads are typically rideable from late May through October, depending on snowpack.
  • Tires: 40mm+ gravel tires recommended. Some routes have loose sections and washboard.
  • Water: Carry plenty. There are few reliable water sources on most routes.
  • Navigation: Cell service is spotty on remote routes. Download your GPS files before you ride.
  • Bike wash: We have a hose at camp to clean your bike after dusty rides.
  • Route help: Forest (your host) is a gravel rider and happy to suggest routes based on your fitness and time.
