Hiking Tips

  • Water: Carry more than you think you need, especially on summit hikes. There are few reliable water sources on the trails.
  • Sun protection: At 5,300 ft and above, the sun is strong. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
  • Wildlife: Black bears live in the area. Make noise on the trail and store food properly at camp.
  • Season: Most trails are accessible from late May through October. Early season may have snow patches at higher elevations.
  • Dogs: Dogs are not allowed at High Camp, but many trails in the area are dog-friendly if you're making a day trip.

Hike by Day, Rest Easy at Night

Come back from the trail to hot showers, a real bed, and stars you can actually see.
